The Children's Liturgy of the Word (CLW) ministry enables children to participate in the formal worship experience, to nourish and guide their spiritual growth and to immerse them in the Word of God in ways that are understandable to them. All children, ages 4 years old to 1st Grade, are welcome to participate. The children are dismissed from Mass during the Liturgy of the Word. They are escorted to a classroom setting in our Church, assisted by volunteers. They will hear the Word from the Children’s Lectionary. The lead catechist guides the children to an understanding of the Gospel that they can embrace. The children will return to their parents at the offertory. We offer this opportunity during the Sunday 9:00 AM Mass. Once children have received their First Communion, they should remain in the sanctuary.
Helping to fulfill the mission of the church to spread the Gospel by welcoming those interested in becoming Catholic. Sponsors needed to help newcomers, hospitality volunteers needed to help with receptions and social, team members needed to help with catechetical sessions and dismissals.

Cursillo seeks to reveal God’s work in each of our lives and to help us to find new life in doing God’s work. The ministry begins with candidates’ participation in their first Cursillo weekend. These weekends occur twice yearly at the Monastery of the Holy Spirit in Conyers. The Cursillo weekend emphasizes the fundamentals of Prayer, Study, and Action as means to walk closer with Our Lord. The goal of Cursillo is to promote leadership in the Catholic lay community through countless forms of self-giving and community involvement. Our parish Cursillo community meets monthly to renew the lessons of Cursillo at an event called Ultreya. During Ultreya, members break bread together at a pot luck dinner and follow with spiritual discussions highlighting the lessons available through Prayer, Study, and Action. In addition, many members of the Cursillo community meet weekly in small groups to keep these lessons more accessible in their daily lives.
Family Promise of Gwinnett provides temporary housing for screened homeless families by using host churches that provide evening housing for these families on a weekly basis. Some nearby Catholic host churches involved in this ministry are St. Oliver Plunkett, St. Lawrence and St. Monica. Currently, this new ministry at SJN has begun by providing support help to host churches. In the future, we hope that St. John Neumann will also be a host church. Please contact Aida Galarza at 678-787-3909 or Mary Moorman at 404-345-4484 for information on this outreach ministry.

It continues to be alive as we bring the good news with our own deep faith and confident voice! Come join us in this wonderful ministry and become a Lector. Watch for future announcements for training workshops. If interested, please contact Mike Rybak (770) 979-7493.

Serving For 25 Years

Saturday: 9 AM - 3 PM
Our thrift store with your help has been serving this community for 25 years. We have provided an atmosphere of allowing families with very limited income a place to shop with dignity.
Are you being called to serve the Parish and feel you just don’t have the time or a talent to share? I once thought that way myself. Ushering may be the ministry for you. It’s a great way to serve the SJN community and meet more parishioners. The role of an ushers is to greet our fellow parishioners with a warm hello, help them find seating if needed, assist in the offertory collections, and send them off with a bulletin and smile. This is a ministry for both men and women. If you are over 16 years old, you would be a welcome addition.
The mission of the Weddings Ministry at St John Neumann is to ensure that each and every wedding is truly a wonderful celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage.
Our volunteer wedding coordinators, coordinate the rehearsal as well as the wedding day. On the day of the wedding, wedding coordinators are needed for many things: setting up the Altar, assisting the bride and groom and their wedding party on the day of the ceremony, welcoming guests to St. John Neumann, handing out wedding programs, answering questions, and generally just sharing in the excitement of the day.
If you love weddings and want to share in the excitement with our wedding couples, this ministry is for you.
